SUMMARY:Hunter Education and Basic Firearms On-Range Training.
DESCRIPTION:Hunter Education and Basic Firearms On-Range Training. \nTo qualify for a hunting licence in Manitoba, any person who obtained their first hunting licence after 1969 must be a graduate of the provincial Manitoba Hunter Education Course or a similar hunter education course from another province or state.\nStudents as young as 10 years old can take their Hunter Education Course and this course. If they are successful, they will receive their Apprentice Hunter Education Certification Card. Once the student turns 12, they automatically obtain the full Hunter Education Certificate. \nThe course includes not only the mandatory Hunter Education classroom sessions but hands on time on the range handling firearms and shooting open sight rifles (and possibly pellet guns, dependent on age and comfort levels), scoped .22 rifle shooting, and shotgun shooting. This 2-day course has both classroom and range time each day to break the monotony of a straight 8 hour day in the classroom. The time on the range provides valuable experience in handling actual firearms, firearm safety, muzzle control, trigger control and other skills. Starting off with open sight shooting ensures students build their knowledge from the ground up, advancing to scoped rifles and shotgun shooting. At the end of the second day, students are even given the opportunity to fire a high-powered rifle should they wish. They even get to shoot a round of trap to help them visualize their first ever bird hunt!\nStudents must complete the 2 full days of the course to qualify for the Hunter Education Certification.\nCost for this course covers the regular Hunter Education Fee ($60) plus the cost building rental, range time, firearms, all ammunition, range supplies, and the additional range instructors to assist the students ($90). Total $150.00\nDepending on the over all class wishes lunches can be arranged at an extra cost.\nFor further information contact dennis.mcguffin@gmail.com ( mailto:dennis.mcguffin@gmail.com ).\n
